About the role

  • This is a part-time temporary role for 7 months, working 20hrs per week, Monday to Friday, 8am to 12pm, however flexibility in this will be considered
  • We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role
  • The base location for this role is Penrith

What you'll do

As a Quality Assurance Technician, you'll:

  • Ensure food safety and quality standards are maintained across the site
  • Support managers and operators in their responsibility to Food Safety and Quality
  • Evaluate process controls during production to ensure they comply with agreed specifications and procedures
  • Complete quality checks in line with product specifications, QAS and organoleptic requirements
  • Complete and update the site microbiological, chemical and allergen sampling schedules to ensure safety of products
  • Own the management of non-conforming products, QA Holds and product releases
  • Organise and completion of raw material intake checks against group specifications
  • Complete annual CCP validation checks of all Critical Control Points on site
  • Carry out and update audits e.g., BRC Internal audits, Glass & Plastic, CCP, GMP inspections and product & process
  • Monitor equipment performance and control through internal calibration of scales and thermometers to ensure compliance
  • Assist with customer complaint investigations
  • Amend factory process control documentation

About you

We are looking for individuals who have drive, and can demonstrate:

  • Level 3 Food Hygiene qualification is desirable, however training will be provided
  • Internal Audit qualification is desirable, however training will be provided
  • A good understanding of BRC global standard requirements is desirable
  • Experience of carry out inspections and GMP audits with strong attention to detail is desirable, however training will be provided
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong skills in planning, prioritising, and organising
  • Multi-tasking and working with multiple priorities at pace, delivering results within tight timescales
  • The ability to communicate and influence at all levels
  • The ability to build strong cross functional relationships
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a small team
  • Initiative and the ability to see tasks through to completion
