This could take place outside of your normal working hours.

Your duties will depend on the company and sector you are working in. If you are working in a marketing agency, you will be working with a range of brands, however if you are working within the marketing department you will be focusing solely on that one company. In a marketing assistant role, duties typically include:

How to become a Marketing Assistant
Now that you know what a Marketing Assistant does, how do you become one?
It is possible to get into marketing without a degree – you could either move into the marketing department of a company that you are already working in – some people begin in other fields such as sales before deciding to change their career. There are more opportunities to move around within a company that you already work for. Or, you could think about doing an apprenticeship. For a level 1 apprenticeship, you will only need GCSE’s A*-C, for higher levels you may need A Levels.
If you have recently graduated, then a graduate scheme could be the perfect route for you. The scheme is usually one to three years depending on the company and the program. You will be fully trained. Companies often like recruiting graduates because they can mold them into the perfect employee during the training process. You can often be fast tracked to a management role if you show great potential.
How to develop your Marketing Assistant career?
If you are ambitious, the next step for you would be to progress up the ladder. You could be promoted first to marketing executive, before becoming an assistant marketing manager, followed by marketing manager and then marketing director. Of course, this will take many years of gaining experience, working extremely hard and proving yourself. This won’t come overnight but if you’ve got it in you to strive for success then this could be the path that you end up taking.
You could also move into more specific areas of marketing, for instance digital, social media or content marketing.
